Singular Logistics’s cargo transport system is based on an electrified monorail with independent carts. All carts are equipped with an artificial intelligence system that allows them to move autonomously. Each cart has the entire map of the circuit where it is located, is able to calculate the routes for its movements, communicates continuously with the other carts to avoid collisions, and re-calculates routes, adapting to traffic conditions.
Despite being independent carts, the transport of materials is requested to all of the carts. That is, a transport order is received in the system, an auction is carried out between the carts and the transport is assigned to an appropriate cart capable of arriving at the collection point in the shortest time. All this takes place automatically and transparently for the user or the transport requester.
This implies two great advantages. There is no need for a centralized system to control the entire installation, and neither is it necessary to configure or program the carts. These features reduce the cost of the system while offering extensive flexibility when modifying or expanding the system.
